The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) was pleased to donate 10 computer towers to École Secondaire Étienne-Brûlé. Their computer science teacher will have the students disassemble them so that they can learn about the various parts of a computer and how computers work.
Computers are an integral part of professional environments in the 21st century and not knowing how to do basic troubleshooting can be a drawback for job seekers. In addition, specialized professionals in computer technology, who can design and program computers and fix complicated problems, are imperative for any organization relying heavily on computers. Therefore, basic or advanced knowledge of computer technology can have a number of advantages for these student’s career.
École secondaire Étienne-Brûlé is a French-language public high school located in Toronto, Ontario, named for a famous explorer. Part of the Conseil scolaire Viamonde, the school serves the French population of the Greater Toronto Area. In 1973, the school officially inaugurated its first building, which is still located at 300 Banbury Road in North York. The majority of students were of Franco-Ontarian origin, while others came from Quebec and the Atlantic provinces, and a few from outside of Canada. Today, Étienne-Brûlé reflects the highly diverse population of modern-day Toronto; students come from a variety of cultural backgrounds. The ERA is happy we are able to help the students at École Secondaire Étienne-Brûlé with this donation.
