Electronic Recycling Helps Ontario Charity Protect Youth from Exploitation

By electronic recycling association November 8, 2024

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) recently donated three laptops to OneChild Network & Support Inc., a Ontario-based charity dedicated to fighting child sexual exploitation through prevention education, advocacy, and youth empowerment. These devices will help OneChild expand vital programs like EMPOWERVENTION and the Youth Advisory Squad (YAS).

EMPOWERVENTION, OneChild’s flagship program, delivers interactive workshops on online safety and healthy relationships. Tailored to address local risks, these tech-enhanced sessions give students critical tools to navigate digital spaces safely. YAS, OneChild’s youth-led advocacy team, empowers young leaders to raise awareness and support prevention efforts in their communities.

With ERA’s support, OneChild will reach more schools, engage students through gamified learning, and develop impactful resources like “Flip The Script,” a film fostering conversations between youth and parents about exploitation.

OneChild still seeks laptops, desktops, monitors, and projectors to further their mission. Companies with retired IT equipment are invited to contact ERA for pickup and contribute to this cause.
