The digital divide is a significant issue in Canada, where many people lack access to computers and the internet. This lack of access can impact education, employment, and many other aspects of daily life. Fortunately, the Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is working to bridge this gap by providing refurbished computers to those in need.

Recently, the ERA donated 10 desktop computers to the Steps Together Foundation, based in Coquitlam, BC. These computers will be given to First Nations students in BC, helping to provide them with the tools they need to succeed in school and beyond.

The Steps Together Foundation’s mission is to advance education by providing scholarships, bursaries, awards, and other forms of financial assistance to students in need. With the onset of Covid-19, the foundation expanded its mission to include food security, technology, health and wellness, and school supplies to the BIPOC community in BC. With the help of grants from organizations like the Youth Leadership Society of BC, the Steps Together Foundation is making a difference in the lives of many people.

Access to computers is more important than ever before, with many schools, businesses, and organizations moving to online platforms. By donating refurbished computers to charities like the Steps Together Foundation, ERA is helping to bridge the digital divide and ensure that everyone has access to the technology they need to succeed.
