The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is excited to announce the donation of 10 laptops to an Edmonton non-profit called The Today Family Violence Centre. These computers will be provided to their clients at no cost due to the multiple barriers they are already facing.
The Today Centre works with a Collaborative Community Response (CCR) model, which means they work in partnership with many other agencies, providing seamless support to clients. Collaborative service delivery enables partners to work together to enhance the supports and services of identified children, youth, and their families within the context of their home, school, and community.
“The Today Centre works to reduce barriers for our clients who are experiencing or have recently left domestic violence. Due to abuse from their partner, many of our clients often express that they have little to no access to laptops, cellphones, or other technological devices. By having an additional resource like the laptops from the Electronic Recycling Association, we can continue to support our client’s safety and increase their access to other options to support their wellbeing. Being able to provide laptops to our clients will be invaluable in supporting their movement and growth forward as they rediscover their stories of survival and resilience.”

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is a non-profit organization founded in 2004 to address the growing problem of e-waste and the increasing ‘digital divide’. For over fifteen years, ERA has offered simple solutions to help individuals and organizations prevent operational equipment from premature destruction. With a focus on recovery, refurbishment, and reuse, ERA continuously supplies charitable groups with donated IT equipment while securely managing the retiring IT assets of organizations and individuals across Canada.
We believe that reuse before recycling is critical in managing the waste created by computer hardware, and by offering industry-leading data destruction for all equipment we receive, we have securely repurposed hundreds of tons of equipment. Because not everything ERA receives can be reasonably repurposed, we have partnered with certified recycling organizations to process equipment that has reached the end of its productive life.
