ERA Donates 2 Laptops to the Centre espoir Sophie

By electronic recycling association July 6, 2021

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) was happy to donate 2 laptops to a unique Francophone drop-in for marginalized women in Ottawa called Centre espoir Sophie.

The Center espoir Sophie (CeS) team offers a safe and supportive environment that allows women to break their isolation, share their experiences, obtain information and support at different levels to face barriers encountered. They also promote autonomy and well-being.

Center espoir Sophie services are offered in an open, non-judgmental and neutral environment using a feminist approach and analysis. The team applies the feminist approach by centering the intervention around the needs, strengths and experiences of the participants, valuing the sharing of experiences. The role of the interveners is to inform and support women in order to facilitate their decision-making and respect them in their progress, their pace and their choices while promoting their empowerment.

A wide range of programs and services are offered at Centre Espoir Sophie. Visit their website here to find out more information.

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is a non-profit organization founded in 2004 to address the growing problem of e-waste and the increasing ‘digital divide’. For over fifteen years, ERA has offered simple solutions to help individuals and organizations prevent operational equipment from premature destruction. With a focus on recovery, refurbishment and reuse, ERA continuously supplies charitable groups with donated IT equipment while securely managing the retiring IT assets of organizations and individuals across Canada.

We believe that reuse before recycling is critical in managing the waste created by computer hardware, and by offering industry-leading data destruction for all equipment we receive, we have securely repurposed hundreds of tons of equipment. Because not everything ERA receives can be reasonably repurposed, we have partnered with certified recycling organizations to process equipment that has reached the end of its productive life.

Donating your used electronics is as simple as giving us a call or contacting us online. Schedule a pick up date with our team or visit one of our donation depots Canada-wide. We accept used desktops, notebooks, computer peripherals, software, and more.
