ERA Donates 4 Computers to the McLaren Housing Society of BC

By electronic recycling association February 18, 2022

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) was happy to donate 4 computers today to the McLaren Housing Society. Their tenants lack accessibility to technology which reduces their opportunities in looking for jobs, accessing their emails and bank accounts, and further educating themselves so this donation will expand opportunities for their tenants.

The mission of the McLaren Housing Society is to provide housing and support services for individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS, and to increase their opportunities for improved health, wellness, independent living and sense of community. Their clients are living in BC living on low/limited incomes, inadequately housed or at risk of homeless. They may require additional resources to maintain suitable housing or shelter based on individual needs. For more information visit their website here.

They achieve our mission through:

  • Providing housing options- government subsidized housing, portable subsidies, supportive housing and community partnerships
  • Managing living facilities where respect, safety and a sense of community are encouraged
  • Building capacity and promoting stability by providing support services and referrals to health and community resources
  • Creating strong and unique partnerships with community organizations, health providers, and Aids Service Organizations to deliver services and programs
  • Seeking additional opportunities to expand McLaren Housing’s housing stock and related support services
  • Fundraising and promoting awareness in the wider community of McLaren Housing’s creative, distinct and innovative programs and services
  • Building community and volunteer engagement in the society’s service framework

The ERA (Electronic Recycling Association), is focused on reducing unnecessary waste and/or environmental impact through effective management of retiring electronic and IT equipment.  As a non-profit organization with deep community roots, it is our “reuse” focus and donation activities that set us apart from others in this sector. We are an ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 Certified Company that offers pickup services, comprehensive data security measures and subsequent reporting. Individuals and organizations alike move through technology hardware for a number of different reasons, and often there is ongoing productive use.

The ERA believes that “reuse” where ever possible is the most ecological approach to this growing stream, and an excellent way to compel real community goodwill at the same time. The Electronic Recycling Association has a clear mission of reducing electronic waste through computer recycling, laptop recycling and computer donation services. With depots throughout Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton and all of Canada. ERA provides a great way to recycle electronic equipment safely and securely.
