PRESS RELEASE
Individuals requesting laptops from the Electronic Recycling Association’s Lending Laptop Program will receive a refurbished computer along with the non-profit Harvest Hills Cares Calgary.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CALGARY, AB – JULY 3, 2020
The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is pleased to announce that it will be holding a donation event on July 4th to provide 60 laptops to Calgary individuals in need. After reaching out to Calgary Sports and Entertainment and with the support of Calgary Flames captain Mark Giordano they were connected to Harvest Hills Cares Calgary.
Over the course of the last few months, ERA has seen an increase in donation requests, primarily families who, before COVID-19 did not own a laptop or a computer and would attend their local libraries to gain online access for the likes of school work. However, they are now contacting ERA to apply for a laptop to be able to teach their children from home. ERA has decided to start a new program with the help of Canadian businesses working with them to supply laptops and computers to families in need.
Thirty laptops will be given to Harvest Hills Calgary Cares to distribute to newcomers and children who are without access to a computer and the other thirty will be supplied to people who have made requests to ERA through their new Lending a Laptop Program.
Harvest Hills Cares Calgary is a grassroots organization that began the moment the Covid-19 Pandemic hit the City of Calgary. “What we do is provide food hampers to families in need throughout the entire city. We are pleased to partner with the Electronic Recycling Association in this endeavour to provide laptops to families and children and individuals in need. An individual is strong by themselves but as a community, we are all stronger together! YYC!” exclaimed founder Jennifer Kremenik.
Bojan Paduh, the Founder of the Electronic Recycling Association said, “I believe it’s important for us all to be more aware of the need of others to better themselves and their communities. We are happy to donate laptops to Calgarians to support their children’s education and to help us all stay connected.”
