The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) was pleased to donate 2 desktop computers to the Saskatoon Service for Seniors. These computers will help the staff of this non-profit organization operate more smoothly and effectively together.
The Saskatoon Service for Seniors is a not-for-profit, charitable organization dedicated to providing services that enable older adults (55+), seniors, and physically challenged individuals to reside independently in their own homes for as long as possible.
“Thank you for the computer donations from Electronic Recycling Association. These computers have been a much-needed tool for our Organization. We can now look after the clients here with much more efficiency with these computers. In these difficult times we are all facing, these computers will help us keep serving our community and aging population,” said executive director, Richard Bell.
Saskatoon Services for Seniors emerged in 1988 as an organization that was “born of need.” No affordable services existed in the community to help seniors in their own homes. The Board of the day believed as they do today, that in order for older adults, seniors, and physically challenged individuals to age-in-place, they need access to affordable services like housekeeping and yard work.
Initially, housekeeping and yard work were the only services offered but today they offer a range of specialized services that correspond to the changing needs of our aging population. Indeed, the need for different types of services continues to increase as our population strives to remain in their own homes for as long as possible.
Today they pride themselves in providing quality service options that meet the needs of our older adult, senior and physically challenged clients that allow them to age successfully in their own homes, wherever that may be. The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is a non-profit organization founded in 2004 to address the growing problem of e-waste and the increasing ‘digital divide’. For over fifteen years, ERA has offered simple solutions to help individuals and organizations prevent operational equipment from premature destruction. With a focus on recovery, refurbishment, and reuse, ERA continuously supplies charitable groups with donated IT equipment while securely managing the retiring IT assets of organizations and individuals across Canada. We believe that reuse before recycling is critical in managing the waste created by computer hardware, and by offering industry-leading data destruction for all equipment we receive, we have securely repurposed hundreds of tons of equipment. Because not everything ERA receives can be reasonably repurposed, we have partnered with certified recycling organizations to process equipment that has reached the end of its productive life.
