The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) recently donated a laptop and printer to the Street Sisters Society in Calgary, AB. This grassroots, 100% female-powered non-profit focuses on supporting individuals, particularly women, who are experiencing homelessness. Their vision is a world free from exploitation and homelessness.
The organization seeks to improve efficiency by adding more computers to its operations. Currently, their work is primarily done on paper, with volunteers completing tasks at home and then printing materials to bring to the operating location. Street Sisters Society maintains nine brochures containing essential resources, such as shelter programs and basic needs services, which they distribute to the community. Due to high printing costs, having in-house access to a quality printer and additional laptops would significantly streamline their operations.
With over 50 volunteers serving more than 5,000 individuals annually—a number that continues to grow—Street Sisters Society relies heavily on in-kind donations, as they are not a registered charity. They are still in need of additional laptops. If you would like to donate your retired IT equipment to support their work, please drop off your items at any ERA depot or contact us to book a pick-up.
The ERA is a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing unnecessary electronic waste by recycling and repurposing used electronics. We work with local companies to safely and securely repurpose IT equipment. Through our efforts, we partner with community charities to provide refurbished computers and electronics to those in need. Join our mission to reduce e-waste by recycling your unwanted devices with the ERA.
Donating your used electronics is as simple as contacting us online or giving us a call. You can schedule a pick-up with our team or visit one of our donation depots Canada-wide. We accept used desktops, laptops, computer peripherals, software, and more.
