ERA Gifts Technology to Belinda’s Place in Ontario

By electronic recycling association December 15, 2020

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is pleased to assist Belinda’s Place with a donation of 9 printers and 1 projector.  They are still in need of 37 laptops that the ERA is working diligently to fill but we need some help. Due to the circumstances surrounding the pandemic, we have seen a drastic decrease in inventory being received and a substantial increase in the request for donations.

Your donation can make all the difference to someone, as well as helping to reduce the impact of e-waste. Be part of the solution by donating your devices today. Call us at 1877-9EWASTE to book a pickup.

“On behalf of Belinda’s Place and the Salvation Army I would like to send our deepest thanks and appreciation for accommodating our donation request. This will go to great use for our clients,” said Program Services Coordinator Megan Szwec.

Belinda’s Place provides something unique in the York Region: a shelter for single women who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness.

Named for Honorary Chair Belinda Stronach, and operated by the Salvation Army, it provides 28 emergency beds and 9 transitional suites. Women will not only receive shelter but assistance in re-integrating into society as they regain independence and security, with help from one-on-one counseling and support from the community.

Belinda’s Place offers a “Housing First” model, said Theresa McLeod-Treadwell, with the Salvation Army. “The idea is to get people stabilized” – providing emergency shelter – but also to follow up with “wrap-around support,” from initial assessment to counseling and referrals.

Guests are able to stay in the transitional units for up to one year. “That way we can make sure we have all those supports,” says McLeod-Treadwell, providing assistance “that will follow them into the community.”

The Electronic Recycling Association is committed to making electronic recycling beneficial for everyone including the environment! If you have any leftover electronic devices that you no longer need, or are not working as it should be, then we will take them off your hands, refurbish them, before giving them to charities across Canada.

We strive to meet reasonable requests for IT and related equipment, such as computers, laptops, projection equipment, printers, phones and related peripherals. Our goal is to fulfill every single reasonable request for a computer donation that we receive, and we are thrilled to announce that we are getting close to achieving this goal. Since 2004, we have donated thousands of computers to Canadians in need and this number grows daily.
