ERA Joins Forces with PPG, Diabetes Canada & Second Life Books for 2024 Recycling Collection

By electronic recycling association October 3, 2024

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is partnering with Partners in Project Green (PPG), Diabetes Canada, and Second Life Books for the 2024 Recycling Collection Drive, taking place from October 14-27, 2024. This inspiring employee engagement initiative promotes sustainability by encouraging the collection of electronic waste (e-waste, clothing, household textiles, and, for the first time, books.

The inclusion of e-waste this year marks a critical step toward reducing the environmental impact of discarded electronics. E-waste, such as old computers, smartphones, and appliances, contains hazardous materials like lead, mercury, and cadmium, which can harm ecosystems and human health when not properly disposed of. Recycling e-waste helps prevent these toxins from entering the environment while recovering valuable materials like precious metals and plastics.

By adding e-waste to the recycling drive, we also support the circular economy, conserving energy and reducing the need for new electronics production, ultimately lowering greenhouse gas emissions. This collaboration aligns with ERA’s mission to promote responsible e-waste management while addressing the digital divide by donating refurbished electronics to charitable organizations.

In partnership with PPG, Diabetes Canada, and Second Life Books, ERA is committed to raising awareness of the importance of recycling both textiles and e-waste. This Recycling Collection Drive empowers employees and community members to make a positive impact on the environment.

Start collecting your e-waste today and join us in creating a more sustainable future!
