Port Moody Police & ERA Join Forces for Fraud Prevention Event
On March 12, 2025, the Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) partnered with the Port Moody Police Department to host a Fraud Prevention Event, successfully collecting and securely processing 1,869.10 lbs of electronic waste.
This community-driven event provided residents with a secure and environmentally friendly way to dispose of their outdated and unwanted electronics. Attendees were encouraged to bring hard drives, computers, laptops, phones, tablets, tapes, and other small devices containing sensitive data for secure destruction.

Dedicated to responsible electronic recycling and data security, ERA ensured that all collected items were properly refurbished or securely recycled. In addition to general e-waste collection, we also safely shredded and destroyed 292 hard drives, ensuring complete data protection for all participants. Items in good working condition will be refurbished and donated to charities in need, furthering our mission of reducing e-waste and supporting communities across Canada.
ERA accepts a wide range of electronic devices for recycling, including gaming consoles, stereo equipment, desktop computers, laptops, handheld devices, printers, accessories, phone systems, servers, software, and routers. By responsibly recycling electronics, we help protect the environment while promoting sustainable reuse practices.
We extend our gratitude to the Port Moody Police Department and the local community for making this event a success. By working together, we are not only safeguarding personal data but also reducing e-waste and supporting those in need through our technology donation program.
