The ERA works with charities across the country to provide refurbished electronics for their programs. This gives them access to reliable technology while allowing them to apply their resources to what they’re good at: developing programs to help people struggling with poverty, health concerns or are otherwise experiencing misfortune.
The Emmanuel Foundation reached out to ERA when one of their staff’s laptops stopped functioning properly. The ERA was happy to help and the Assistant Executive Director was delighted to receive a working computer for updating their website, designing media on Adobe Suite, and interactions with their donors, customers, and charitable recipients. Currently, they are trying to organize the Emmanuel Foundation into a long-term sustainable model that will be able to function for years to come. “This laptop will be imperative for helping make this a reality,” said Operations Director, Deryk Kirchner.
Emmanuel Foundation is a charity that exists to serve the poor in tangible ways. They desire to demonstrate God’s love by sharing their resources to create hope for a better tomorrow for individuals, families, and communities of developing countries in the areas of their physical, social and spiritual well-being. They do this by getting involved in 3 different areas:
Playground Projects
- They rescue decommissioned playgrounds that are destined for landfills. After refurbishing them, they send them to areas of the world where children do not have access to developmental play.
Shipping Containers
- They have developed a Distribution Centre which exists to send goods and materials to organizations that are actively involved in sustainable community development. Emmanuel Foundation ships about 20 containers each year. These shipments of high quality and much-needed items include things like medical and educational equipment and resources that will contribute to the success of these organizations’ or community’s endeavors.
Community Development
- While on trips to build playgrounds, significant needs in many communities became apparent to them. Emmanuel Foundation has served some of these communities beyond providing goods and playgrounds through supporting initiatives such as safe water projects, school construction, and training. Furthermore, they have partnered with Kids Around the World, and have provided meals necessary for healthy nutrition to give kids the chance to grow and flourish.
