Viewing regular access to a personal computer as a non-essential luxury is a thing of the past. Even basic activities now require the use of a computer; applying for a job, completing schoolwork, staying in touch with family or even something as simple as looking up a bus route is difficult without a computer. Job Search and Job Club
- Clients who are still seeking employment meet at the Centre once a week to share their job search experiences and gain support and further help.
Occupation Specific Résumé Preparation and Job Application
- This allows SSC clients to come to the Centre and seek help in preparing their résumés in order to apply for jobs in specific occupations.
Job Interview Skills
- A client is coached through a mock interview that targets a specific employer.
Mentorships
- The Centre arranges meetings between mentees and mentors in related occupations. This allows the two parties an opportunity to share experiences and if desired, establish long-term professional relationships.
Work Experience Placements
- The Centre places Clients for a six-12 week work experience with potential employers. The clients are expected to treat their placements as if it were a regular job.
Job Matching
- The Centre helps find jobs that match our clients’ skills, work experience, education and qualifications.
