The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) recently donated 2 desktop computers and 2 laptops to the registered charity Options for Sexual Health. The laptops will be used for paperwork and the desktop computers would be used for their provincial office in-house support to community fundraising and information events.
At Options for Sexual Health (Options) they care about the healthy sexuality of all. They currently offer services in British Columbia and the Yukon. They are All About Choice: they offer current sexual and reproductive health care, information, and education from a feminist, pro-choice*, sex positive perspective.
They recognize the many barriers that people face in accessing comprehensive sexual health education and non-judgmental and pro-choice services, and how intersectionality impacts access as well as how inequities multiply barriers for certain populations. They strive to put their clients and patients first, ensuring they have access to the information and care they need.
Because the Electronic Recycling Association is an advocate of equality, we are not specifically affiliated with a given charity. The ERA helps hundreds of charitable organizations each year through the donation of necessary computer equipment. Organizations qualified for donations through ERA’s donation program include: registered charities, non-profit organizations, care facilities (seniors homes, hospitals, daycares, etc.) and educational institutions.
The ERA is a non-profit organization founded in 2004 to address the growing problem of e-waste and the increasing ‘digital divide’. For over fifteen years, ERA has offered simple solutions to help individuals and organizations prevent operational equipment from premature destruction. With a focus on recovery, refurbishment and reuse, ERA continuously supplies charitable groups with donated IT equipment while securely managing the retiring IT assets of organizations and individuals across Canada. We believe that reuse before recycling is critical in managing the waste created by computer hardware, and by offering industry leading data destruction for all equipment we receive, we have securely repurposed hundreds of tons of equipment. Because not everything ERA receives can be reasonably repurposed, we have partnered with certified recycling organizations to process equipment that has reached the end of its productive life.
Consider donating your unwanted electronics to the ERA, we have a pending list of charities that have applied for free computers and you can choose the one you would like to support with your contribution. Call us at 1877-9EWASTE to see if you are eligible for a free pickup.
