On March 29, 2025, the Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) partnered with the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu Police Service to host a free electronic recycling and hard drive shredding event—bringing together residents for a day focused on digital safety and environmental responsibility.
Despite less-than-ideal weather, community members showed up in support of a cleaner, safer future. The event offered locals the chance to drop off their unwanted electronics for secure recycling or potential reuse. Every donated item was thoroughly data-wiped, refurbished, and prepared for donation to organizations in need.

Attendees also had access to ERA’s mobile hard drive shredding unit, which provided a secure, on-site solution for responsibly disposing of sensitive data stored on old devices.
This initiative not only helped reduce electronic waste, but also empowered the community with knowledge about online safety and data protection.
We extend our gratitude to everyone who contributed to the event’s success—and a heartfelt thank-you to the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu Police Service for their leadership and dedication to community well-being.
