The Good Guides in Toronto Receives Tech from ERA

By electronic recycling association December 2, 2020

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is proud to assist a non-profit organization with a passion for making positive changes in their communities with a donation of IT equipment.  The Good Guides – Inner City Youth Mentoring in Toronto received 2 laptops and a printer for their new youth drop-in, slated to open Jan 2021.

Mission

The Good Guides seeks to develop a positive relationship with at-risk communities by connecting with youth and their families through engaging social activities. The Good Guides aims to serve their local community by becoming leaders and working with at-risk youth to enable them to become self-motivated, empowered, and develop strong social skills that will encourage them to reach their full potential. They also aim to foster a therapeutic relationship with the parents of these children to facilitate a multi-level approach to transforming the lives of the youth that they work with.

Core Values

INCLUSIVITY: They believe ALL individuals should have equal opportunity – no kids left behind!

RESPECT: They believe young people must be in a caring and inclusive environment that promotes individuality and reinforces self, social and most importantly, communal respect.

EMPOWERMENT: Through mentorship, they aim to empower youth and their families to make positive lifestyle changes.

CREATIVITY: They are constantly readjusting their approach within the community in order to be as effective as possible. Society is always evolving and changing, in order to create meaningful change, they will continue to evolve as well.

The ERA works with charities across the country to provide refurbished electronics for their programs. This gives them access to reliable technology while allowing them to apply their resources to what they’re good at: developing programs to help Canadians struggling with poverty, health concerns or are otherwise experiencing misfortune. Because the Electronic Recycling Association is an advocate of equality, we are not specifically affiliated with a given charity.

It’s easy to get involved in helping your communities with much-needed IT equipment. Simply drop off your unwanted items to one of our depots and ERA will data wipe the devices and install Windows 10 operating system. The computer is now refurbished and ready for donation! Call us to see if you are eligible for a free pickup.
