The Umoja Operation Compassion Society of British Columbia was in need of reliable computers to coordinate their work more efficiently. The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) donated 5 desktop computers to this non-profit that began it’s work in 2002.
Umoja Operation Compassion Society of British Columbia is a charitable and newcomer settlement organization that works with recent immigrants and refugees of all cultural backgrounds living in Surrey, BC. Their culturally attuned, trauma-informed programs are particularly essential for those at risk of socio-economic marginalization based on language and skills gaps, race, cultural and religious background, trauma, or perceived status.
The Society seeks to holistically support integration into Canadian society while upholding each person’s dignity and unique worth to our communities. In so doing, we aspire to bridge the privilege gap and to work toward an authentically thriving Canadian society in which no one is left behind.
