Volunteer with Purpose – Get Tech Experience and a Free Laptop at ERA Toronto

By electronic recycling association April 14, 2025

Are you looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community while gaining valuable hands-on experience in technology? The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is welcoming volunteers at our Toronto location to help us refurbish electronics, support local charities, and protect the environment by reducing e-waste.

Whether you’re a student fulfilling volunteer hours, someone interested in learning more about computers, or simply passionate about sustainability – this is a great opportunity for you. No previous experience is needed. Just bring your positive attitude, steel-toed boots, and desire to help!

What You’ll Be Doing

As an ERA volunteer, you’ll be part of a mission-driven team dedicated to environmental sustainability and digital access. Your daily tasks may include sorting various cables and components, testing and cleaning monitors, removing labels and stickers from devices, organizing accessories like laptop bags and RAM, disassembling non-working electronics for parts, assisting with warehouse organization, and keeping the workspace clean.

It’s a fantastic way to develop hands-on skills in a real-world tech environment.

Why Volunteer with ERA?

  • Get practical experience with computers and electronic devices
  • Help reduce e-waste and keep electronics out of landfills
  • Support local charities and communities by preparing refurbished devices for donation
  • Work alongside a friendly, supportive, and inclusive team
  • Make a positive, tangible impact – locally and environmentally

Once you complete 24 volunteer hours, you’ll receive a refurbished laptop or desktop computer as a thank-you for your contribution. You’ll also receive a certificate of appreciation to acknowledge your valuable support.
