Wildlife Rehabilitation Society of Saskatchewan Receives 10 laptops

By electronic recycling association December 25, 2020

The Wildlife Rehabilitation Society of Saskatchewan (WRSOS) is a volunteer-driven, registered non-profit organization. The organization was founded in 2006 and has been dedicated to protecting Saskatchewan wildlife. WRSOS aims to promote education, respect, understanding, and appreciation of wildlife and the environment so that humans and wildlife can successfully coexist.

In order for the Wildlife Rehabilitation Society of Saskatchewan to continue its dedication to fostering rehabilitation of wildlife and their eventual return to the wild, and to promoting the understanding and respect for wildlife issues they need our help.  The ERA recently received a request for 10 laptops from the WRSOS.  These devices will be used for general administrative tasks and presentations by their management team.

The WRSOS has nearly 125 volunteers and two paid summer student employees. They work with 20 veterinary clinics that volunteer their services free or at a reduced rate, and 10 provincially licensed wildlife rehabilitators province-wide. The demand is growing rapidly across the province; their Wildlife Emergency Hotline took over 3,000 calls last year!

Saskatchewan’s provincially licensed rehabilitators can accept a wide range of animals. From hawks, falcons, waterfowl, and songbirds to bats, skunks, foxes, black bears, and everything in between.

The WRSOS is committed to protecting wildlife and their habitat, improving conservation awareness, and facilitating access to specialized care for wildlife in need. They are determined to reduce and prevent human-wildlife conflict through public education. They achieve their goals through their wildlife emergency hotline, wildlife rescue efforts, and community outreach.

With the purpose:

  • To conserve and protect wildlife and their habitat.
  • To prevent the unnecessary removal of wildlife from their natural habitat.
  • To prevent accidental injury or illness to callers or wildlife.
  • To provide information and education to the public about wildlife issues.
  • To provide rescue and transportation for the wildlife that needs help.
  • To ensure the return to the wild of medically assisted and rehabilitated wildlife.

With a focus on recovery, refurbishment and reuse, ERA continuously supplies charitable groups with donated IT equipment while securely managing the retiring IT assets of organizations and individuals across Canada. We believe that reuse before recycling is critical in managing the waste created by computer hardware, and by offering industry-leading data destruction for all equipment we receive, we have securely repurposed hundreds of tons of equipment.

Because not everything ERA receives can be reasonably repurposed, we have partnered with certified recycling organizations to process equipment that has reached the end of its productive life. Call us at 1877-9EWASTE to book a pickup today!
